Too many Christians today walk around buffeted by uncontrollable impulses, drowning in guilt and totally defeated. They pray, commit, surrender, read the Word, say all the right words, and still can't seem to live a victorious life. If that sounds familiar, then you might find some answers here.

Armor - Part 4

Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

There are different types of shields, and our faith can be like any of them, depending on the circumstances and the type of battle.

There's a tall shield that when used in a line would create a barrier from which attacks could be launched toward the enemy. When facing a "stronghold" often burning oil and other substances would be poured down on the soldiers below. This particular shield could be raised over the head protect the soldier from getting burned. Then there's the small shield, easily wielded, maneuverable.

Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Protect the head, the mind, the seat of the emotions, salvation comes thru the Blood of Jesus and accepting Jesus as Savior...it's not just "believing in Jesus"! Sword - this is active, aggressive.

One type of sword is the broadsword a two-handed, bulky weapon suitable for loping off of the head. Then there's the foil or rapier, a thin blade easily wielded, manuverable, perfect for making quick jabs at the enemy, and for the quick kill.

The Word is our Sword it can be used in both ways, for the heavy decapitating attack and for the lighter jabs it all comes under "it is written".

Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

You better be praying in the Spirit. If you've been given a prayer language, it wasn't so you could impress anyone with your spiritual giantism, nor to add to your spiritual resume. USE IT! And if you don't "got it", get it!

That's like the Navajo codetalkers, during WWII, the Japanese could not understand it, the Codetalkers were invaluable in the war. In the same way using your prayer language stops the Enemy in their tracks...they don't know what you are praying. And when you are praying in the Spirit you are praying 100% according to the will of God. Things will begin to happen.
