BREAKING THE CURSE

Eze 18:17 That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.

Eze 18:19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.

Both verses show that by being obedient and living by the Word that the death sentence brought on by the father's sin is removed. However, living right does not break the curse. Read on...

Neh 1:6 Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.

Nehamiah confesses the sins of his ancestors and past generations of the children of Israel. When breaking a generational curse it is important that we "confess on behalf of our ancestors" the iniquity or sin that brought a curse.

For instance, if you know that an ancestor was a shaman or a witch, or a murderer, a cheat, a thief, then you must confess on behalf of that ancestor and ask forgiveness. This act does not mean that that ancestor, if he/she died in an unforgiven state will now be considered "saved". It just means that you and your offspring will no longer be held accountable for the sins that ancestor committed.

Next, you must appropriate Christ's redemptive work of the cross in breaking this curse.

Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

The very act of death by crucifixion and Christ's blood shed on the cross is the instrument for breaking your family curse.

If you have already accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, and yet recognize a curse operating in your life, then you have every right to accept and appropriate the work of the cross in removing yourself from under that curse.

"Father, I confess the sins of my ancestors (if you know what the sin was confess it now) back to the 10th generation and ask forgiveness now. In the Name of Jesus I apply His blood and cover that sin. I think you Jesus for becoming a curse for me so that I can be forever freed from that curse. In the Name of Jesus I break the curse of ________________ and remove it forever from my life and the lives of my family. In the Name of Jesus I command any evil spirits that have come into my life by reason of this curse to also leave."

Continuing telling the spirits to go until you sense a release by the Holy Spirit that they have gone.

Then thank Him and praise Him. Also get into the Word and learn scriptures that will enable you to resist the those spirits when they attempt to come back or tempt you to sin thus opening a doorway to their return.

Generational Curses: Real or Not?

1Ki 11:12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. (The punishment would fall in the generation of the son)

2Sa 3:29 Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread. (David is speaking a curse on the house of Joab of sickness, leporsey, crippling, murder and starvation)

2Sa 12:10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. (as long as David's "house" was, there would be bloodshed)

2Ki 5:27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed forever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow. (For greed ,the generations following would be punished)

Deu 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD. (illegitimacy - break the curse of the bastard and see if a person who was conceived out of wedlock and who struggles in their walk with the Lord, suddenly is free from that struggle)

I have actually known those who were born out of wedlock struggle to maintain an active relationship with the Lord. While you could see that they truly wanted to serve the Lord and live a Godly life, from one day to the next they would fall back into old patterns.

When the bastard curse is broken there is a remarkable deliverance and change that takes place. Suddenly serving the Lord is easy (in comparison to what it was before) and they are able to go on and grow in the Lord.
